Work ending 22/12/2015
So Christmas is almost upon us and we have a few more photos of work carried out. We only have a few things to do in the morning then we are on Holiday until the 6th of January.
Some before and after photos of some work we had carried out earlier in the year re-pointing and now we have stripped the Paint off the window and door surrounds
This is work we had only just taken the scaffolding down last week and was a fair old job! There was a bulge of around 8-10″ at the wall head of the gable end. We started to take it down and realised there was more than one problem causing this to happen, from the chimneys flues not being tied in correctly to no proper sarking boards or felt under the roof slate and no roof joists to hold the roof up! All in all a few problems. But we rebuilt the wall with lots to key the inner and outer leafs of stone together, reworked the roof and slates and fixed the guttering. And the owner (Linda) kept us going with Coffee!
This is where a cupboard had been made when the house was built and the wooden lintel had been pretty close to setting a chimney fire!
